Abstract: This research explores the impact of early childhood education (ECE) in fostering prosocial behaviors among preschool children in Enugu State, Nigeria. The objective is to examine how participation in structured ECE programs influences the development of empathy, cooperation, and altruism in young children. A survey research design is justified to systematically collect data on the prosocial behaviors exhibited by preschoolers in different ECE settings. A sample size of 300 children aged 3-6 years will be purposively selected from a mix of public and private nursery schools across Enugu State. Purposive sampling ensures representation of children from diverse socio-economic backgrounds and educational environments. A case study approach focusing on selected nursery schools will provide detailed insights into the specific educational practices promoting prosocial behaviors. Findings indicate a positive association between early enrollment in ECE programs and the development of empathy, cooperation, and altruism among preschoolers. Recommendations highlight the importance of integrating prosocial skill-building activities into ECE curricula statewide to foster a more compassionate and cooperative society in Enugu State.
